The boys turn 3!

This past May the boys turned 3 and I can't believe how quickly they are growing up.  It's amazing to see their personalities shine and of course their friendship for each other....they truly are best of friends!

First things first, we have almost mastered when I get the camera out to look and smile.  But either way love capturing them in everything they do {which requires the fastest shutter speed}.  The boys enjoy going to school together, riding their balance bikes and scooters, watching Paw Patrol, playing super heroes, celebrating everybody's birthday, playing 'I spy' and roll call in the car.....and their favorite game of all time hide and seek.

This summer we are trying our first activity, T-Ball, they have been so busy this past year tagging along to their sister's gymnastics, swimming and dance....it was definitely time.  Also, we were a bit behind in getting them big boy beds, but @ 3 years 2 months it's complete and they are doing great!  They love wishing everyone goodnight and reminding us that Mommy, Daddy, Kyleigh and each other are all of their best friends.....such a sweet memory that makes me so happy!

Love our boys and can't wait to see what the year of 3 brings for us!

Also could not help but include this behind the scenes picture of my sweet mom helping me capture special memories of the boys the day before their 3rd birthday.  It's a bit challenging to play mom and photographer, I am so lucky and appreciative she was able to join and help!

cutting off to catch up....

on life....

Everyone has been so amazing the past few years to work with and I appreciate each and every one of you allowing me the opportunity to work with you!

The hope is to continue again one day....but while I'm breaking you may see some new updates on the blog, even if it is your 2nd wedding anniversary and I'm just getting to your invitation post, that is a great potential....or if your child is turning 5 and the 3 year old party invite makes the cut don't judge:-)

Outside of blog posts, my goal is 2016 is to join a shoot along (even though I'm a month late), home improvements and organization....most importantly, spending time enjoying life and with my family.

stay tuned, 50+ blog posts coming your way including some personal ones as well....

A kitchen upgrade….

While I do miss designing during my break, I've definitely been keeping myself busy with some fun side projects….one that I can't wait to share with everyone, our updated kitchen!  As we are coming up on 2 years in our home, this is typically the time I get the itch to start changing things….first up is our kitchen.

Originally the hope was to replace the flooring and cabinets, but after the contractor left and prior to the quote hitting my inbox, the boys colored our cabinets with marker…I think that was a sign that a mini-upgrade vs. a kitchen overhaul was ideal for us now.

{Original kitchen}

I definitely wanted lighter cabinets, did a ton of research on Pinterest on the correct process to paint cabinets.  The plan was to take on the job ourselves, but figured a professional may be best for this.

{Paint complete with old counters and appliances}

Next was time for countertops, appliances, and decorations including an updated table and chairs!

August Calendar Download

As I'm traveling in the car with my family on the way home from South Carolina, I'm having so much fun looking at pictures from the past month….we really did have a busy but great July!  From my birthday, the 4th of July, celebrating Breeanna's 8th Grade Graduation, a Taylor Swift concert, lots of pool days an overnight stay in Louisville with my bestie and her cutie kids and finally a trip to South Carolina.

Thought it would be fun to create a template to share with everyone for the month of August to take the #monthlychallenge OK I just made that up….but would love to see everyone capturing what makes the month of August special to you!

Below is the link and directions on my website on how to use it:

An eventful day x 2!

The boys have been 2 for over a month, and I have always felt bad that I didn't write anything down in a scrapbook for them.  My sister and I were talking the other day about milestones, and I could not remember when Christian or Caleb got their first tooth, when they rolled, crawled or even who walked first....  But then I remembered I took pictures at all of those different stages and sporadically shared personal posts on my blog.  That is something I promised myself I would keep doing in hopes that one day I will print the memories into a book so we can look back on all of the crazy, yet amazing times.

Not sure where to start, but the boys have developed such unique personalities.  My mom said to me the other day "Together they think they can conquer the world".  Which is so true, they consistently play off of each other's strengths.  Caleb has turned into quite the talker, full sentences, repeating things (some things we would rather not)....but often times he will say "Christian said he wants milk mommy" or translate when we are trying to understand what Christian wants.  Christian is so strong and can get into anything.  He can open doors, climb anywhere and help Caleb join in on the fun whether it is getting into the pantry, their closet or even on our bed.  They both share a love for singing and dancing like their big sister Kyleigh and can often be found jumping around together...especially during the Mickey Mouse Hot Dog dance.  They love hugs, kisses, coloring and looking at pictures of their family.

They are doing great in school and we are so excited all 3 of our kids can attend at the same location.  Caleb knows all of his colors, shapes and can recognize and tell you all letters in the alphabet.  His memory is so good, just like his daddy (definitely didn't get from me).  Christian can swing a bat like no other and always wants to play baseball and build blocks!  Also, with Christian never wants to be left out.  He wants everything both Kyleigh and Caleb have (even if he has a matching item in his hand).  Even when Caleb falls or gets hurt.  Christian will pretend to fall just for hugs and kisses from us.

I'm not sure if they understood it was their birthday as they love singing the b-day song to everyone else, but we did have a special day planned for them.  The night before their birthday I bought 12 balloons to surprise them with in the morning.  I paid extra for special helium to last longer....but unfortunately all were found on the floor in the morning...oh well the boys were so excited to see them...it didn't matter.

A few weeks prior to their birthday, Kyleigh and I went to Toys R Us to pick out a tricycle for both of them.  We literally were there for about an hour figuring out the best one.  Kyleigh was so excited to give it to them she asked every day if we could surprise the boys early.  We got her to hold out until the morning of their special day, but that is the first thing she grabbed the moment they woke up!

Then it was Kyleigh's turn to give them her gift.  She used 2 of their shoe boxes and put her crayons in them.  I think the boys were more excited about this gift than the bikes....they colored all morning on our Sesame Street cards we got them.

Next it was time to get ready to head to the Sox game…typically that means we chase the boys around the house and they end up jumping on our bed before getting their outfits on.

And we are off to the game…..boys on our back and all!

Where here, time for some lunch followed by "happy birthday" lemon fluff cupcakes but and unlit candle as we forgot matches.

.....after that it was time to go to our seats where the boys had their name on the scoreboard (thanks to grandpa) and Caleb even got some game time coverage on TV with his cousin Michael!

Following the game, we played a little in the boys room and then headed out for a bike ride prior to bed.  The following day we kept the fun times rolling with a visit to the zoo!

We are so proud of our boys, they bring us so much joy every day and LOVE our party of 5.
