Pre-School Party Time!

This year I'm really ahead of the game for Kyleigh's Easter School party.  We both went to Michael's about a month ago and found these cute and practical water bottles.  Her school has a no sugar/sweet/preservative policy so we are always looking for ways to be creative and to find things her friends can have fun with!

I used the bunny name tags I illustrated for Kyleigh last year and made a happy easter text graphic to cut out on my silhouette.  While the boys were sleeping this past Saturday, Kyleigh could hardly wait to assemble that she pulled me out of bed at 6am to finish!  My job was to tie the ribbon, Kyleigh took care of the rest, picked out the ribbon color, paper color and taped on the easter bunny message!

Hope she has fun at her party tomorrow, off to bed tonight…...

If I could only time-stamp this photo you would see she is all smiles at 6am this past Saturday!

Gearing up for valentine's day!

As I'm packing items for a quick day trip to Detroit for work....ugh 4:10am wake-up call tomorrow.  Want to be sure that Kyleigh is all set for her pre-school valentine's day party!

Outfit set out - check (with strict instructions that daddy needs to send me a picture)
Classroom favors - check
Homemade valentine's day box - check

I'm starting to find that last year was a bit easier to be a little more creative as I hand crafted the favors (check out the post from 2013: favors) and even hand created the valentines day box (link to 2013 post: cardbox)

Off to bed and Detroit tomorrow.....can't wait to get back home and hear all about the special day....daddy's in charge!

Halloween Favors

As we head into the holiday season I don’t want to forget to post the cute Halloween favors Kyleigh shared with her classmates a few weeks ago.  With being so busy these days the plan was to not do anything, but something changed my mind at 4am on 10/31 and Kyleigh’s special daddy went to Walmart to pick up some goodies.

I already had a pumpkin illustrated from last year and found a puncher (as all of my other supplies were in storage) that fit the straw circle perfectly!  Kyleigh had her Halloween parade that day so I was able to go to school and watch and her, and she could not have been happier handing the treats out!

School's Out for Summer....

Well not exactly for Kyleigh, but thank goodness she loves Summer School!

I love all of the first and last day of school pictures on Pinterest I had to try to create our own version to capture moments.  Created a banner on my Silhouette Cameo that I'm hopeful I can keep going throughout the years.....I plan to make the word "First" to replace "Last" and different numbers to track the age throughout the years.....

Easter Bubbles

Always looking for cute ideas for Kyleigh to bring to school for her classroom parties and we found packages of bubbles at Michael's.  Illustrated a easter bunny last year for her school party and used the same design this year.

Unfortuantely Kyleigh missed her party as we were both down with the flu last week, but it will be a nice day-after Easter surprise for the classmates (hopefully:-)

Valentine's for Kyleigh

Busy, busy weekend.....in the midst of printing 3 different wedding invitations, finished Kyleigh's School Valentine's for her party this week.  Her school has a no sugar no preservative policy, so I just stick clear of food all together.....crayons are more like it.

Illustrated a cute bee and used my silhouette cutter for the first time to create the heart shapes!  Hope the classmates enjoy:-)

Valentine's Day Card Box

For those that followed my last post, I dug deep into my Graphic Design archives to recreate a package design template for my daughters pre-school Valentine's Day party. I noticed a lot of the ideas on Pinterest that consisted of used cereal boxes etc, but I am terrible at wrapping things, especially with card stock paper.....so I though the best option would be for Kyleigh and I to create our own box!

Project success, I found a template online to help make the box cuts and folds.  From there I custom designed and illustrated patterns on all 4 sides of the box template, printed, scored, and cut.....

I typically don't share step by steps, but though this one would be fun for all to see!

Template:

1) Design printed, scored/folded and cut to the correct shape to custom create a milk carton.  Tools: ruler, hole punch, glue dots, bone folder, matte razor.

2) Next, started adding glue dots and attached the bottom of the box together for stability.

3)  Once the bottom and side was adhered, stood the box up to get ready to score and attach the top.

4)  Kyleigh helped me punch the 2 holes and pick out the ribbon color!

5) And the finished product!

Next, time to get Kyleigh's Valentine's Day cards ready!!!!
