Oh twins, oh my....

Such anticipation, Tuesday, May 7th could not come soon enough for us. After three pre-term labor hospital visits starting at 33 weeks...we made it to 37 weeks 6 days and it was time to be induced!

My mom came over bright and early to spend the day with Kyleigh while Scott and I got ready to start our journey down the Dan Ryan to Northwestern Hospital.  Just before leaving, I tried to keep it together, but saying goodbye to Kyleigh (our only child for just a few more hours) was more emotional that I would have guessed.  But lets face it, those that know me know that would have been nearly impossible for me not to shed a tear.

Kyleigh was in great hands with a fun-filled day...she had school, an ice cream treat, a train visit and some bike riding....

Back at Northwestern, Scott and I were all settled in Labor and Delivery around 9am.  The staff was great, the rooms were amazing, the pain was a bit intense at times, but I didn't care as I couldn't wait to meet our newest additions.

About 8 hours in it was time to head to the OR and shortly after we met our sweet baby boys at 6:30 and 6:32pm.  It all happened so quickly and the room had so many medical professionals (10 per baby between the nursing staff, doctors and pediatrician) that I am so glad Scott captured so many moments on film.

Holding the boys for the first time was such an amazing feeling.  First they handed me Baby B and then the 2nd Doctor came out with Baby A.

While Scott and I both cuddled up with our boys in the recovery room, we decided on the first names for each of our boys, Christian (Baby A) and Caleb (Baby B).  After the babies were born we made the first 2 calls to both grandparents mentioning to hold off saying anything as we were getting settled in my room and needed a little time prior to spreading the word.  I'm thinking my dad didn't understand the memo as the birth of the boys was literally announced minutes later by Steve Stone during the White Sox broadcast.  Scott had a clever idea to snap a pic of the details to continue to spread the word as we both had a baby in one arm and could not share the great news fast enough!

When we had Kyleigh, Scott spent the first night in the hospital. So it was a little strange when he left around 1am to head home to be with our proud big sister.  The picture below was the last one taken on the special day they were born.

Meanwhile, big sister is at home dreaming of meeting her brothers.

Bright and early daddy got Kyleigh ready to come downtown to meet her brothers...it was love at first sight she was so fascinated by them both and she instantly took to the big sister role.  While I waited for Scott and Kyleigh to arrive, I took some photos of the boys in anticipation of everyone meeting!

After one full day at the hospital it was time to head home on the 9th.  While waiting for the discharge papers took the opportunity to take some pics of the boys.

By the time we got home it was early evening. After we all got settled the boys gave a special gift to Kyleigh {an umbrella double doll stroller} which she absolutely loves.  We spent some time together as a family welcoming the boys home, below is our first photo as a family of 5, a moment I will always cherish.

Now, it's time for all the excitement to begin!
