22 Month Update

While I take a step back from designing to catch up on life, thought this would be the perfect month to do a quick recap on the boys, 22 months, 2 months shy of 2 and there is two of them…..makes perfect sense!  The baby book is still in the packaging and the last time I wrote a blog post for them was on their 1st bday so I do feel this is a bit overdue and so much to tell.

 It is so fun to watch the both of them develop unique personalities, the bond they hold with one another and the relationship with their sister.  While I can say this is definitely the most challenging point for Scott and I as parents as they both have a mind of their own, it is also very rewarding to take everything in and enjoy it.  Christian is always looking out for Caleb, who he calls “Chi-chen” we think he is trying to say Christian but most recently calls him brother.  Christian will grab 2 of anything and always make sure Caleb has the same thing he does.  Alternatively, Christian always wants what Caleb has if it is not something he gives him.  If Caleb is reading a book, Christian typically grabs it to which Caleb calmly allows and after picks out a new one {in most case}.  Also, Christian is a little better at listening to us, but is drawn to follow Caleb when he is being mischievous {climbing on the table, splashing in the toilet, getting into the trash….} but when we say ‘no’ at least one of the boys listens at a first call.   Caleb can clearly articulate everyone’s name in our family and is often one to shout out “Scott” and “Jaime” if we don’t answer to mommy and daddy.  He is our silly, sneaky one…..we always have to keep an eye on him to be sure he is not getting into trouble.
 Christian and Caleb on…..
  • Sleeping {they always are laying in the same position regardless of when we check on them…truly amazing}
  • Eating {Christian is our healthy eater loves fruit and veggies, Caleb would like ice cream, a burger or mac and cheese round the clock and tends to wear most of his food while Christian is perfectly clean}
  • Hugs {the boys hug everyone in the room they…. know how to make you feel special.  Hugs to those that they don’t even know, and Scott and I for that matter}
  • Vocab  {Caleb can repeat everything you tell him clear as day and talks in sentences, Christian is trying to catch up but sometimes would rather just show us what he wants, or a sweet baby babble with the last we can make out}
  • Games {they love ring around the rosie and hide and seek}
  • Sports {they are just learning to play catch and have found a real love for baseball (we have not bought them a glove or bat so for now they are working with pink equipment).  Christian has an arm on him and tends to throw the ball at my head when I’m not looking…we are working on that}
  • Singing/Dancing {Christian is our dancer and Caleb is our singer….the boys favorite songs are the “abc’s”, “happy birthday” and “If you are happy and you know it”}
  • Walking {they both starting walking right after their first birthday and didn’t stop there…..no one walks in our house and everyone runs including their older sister Kyleigh}
  • Smile {Christian is starting to smile for pictures and understands Cheese – Caleb would rather stare or run away {we are still working on him}
  • Coloring {they both LOVE to color, if there is ever a time I need them to calm down, coloring it is}
  • Cartoons {Top 3 is Mickey Mouse, Elmo and Barney}
  • School {they both love school and have been attending just before they turned 15 months, Scott and I are amazed at how much they have learned thus far}
  • Outgoing {while Kyleigh is our shy kiddo, Christian is definitely more outgoing….but Caleb is the one we have to watch out for as he will go up to anyone for a hi-five, a smile or even a hug}
  • Toys {Christian is our stacker and loves building blocks and legos, while Caleb loves all things trains and cars {and relies on Christian to put together the tracks}
  • IPad {this is a magical device to both of them, but only Christian can scroll through the Netflix favorites and select a cartoon to watch, Caleb parks himself next to Christian to be sure he has a good angle to view}
  • Fighting {Caleb runs and Christian tackles…..the joys of learning to be a mommy of 2 boys}
Can’t wait to see what 2 holds for them in 2 months, but until then….my hope for the boys is their continued happiness, they are so fulfilled by each other and make each day special and happy for all of us.  Kyleigh enjoys playing the big sister role with them and being the pretend teacher, mommy or doctor and it is so cute to watch.  We have our hands full that is for sure and are reminded consistently as we are chasing our boys in public, and while they do keep us busy, we would not have it any other way as this is our life and we love it.
